Daly City AllStars Concert Band

The Daly City AllStars have played continuously since 1910—until the COVID hiatus. Under the auspices of the Daly City Library and Recreation Services (since 1992), the band typically performs only twice a year. Traditionally, the band has met nearly every Friday year-round, to sight-read from a collection of over 2500 works under a rotating cast of directors.

Our program today features music from the South Pacific—Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and the Philippines. In a program last March we performed the North American premiere of noted Filipino composer Alfredo Buenaventura’s medley of folk songs. We include an old Hawaiian song, Lahainaluna, to mark the tragic Maui fire last year; the arranger, W. Jordan Goto, asks that we generously support rebuilding efforts there, by contributing to the Maui Strong Fund through the Hawaii Community Foundation website.
