Historically, the Elks have a long tradition with bands, but this lodge (#1112) is one of the few that continues to support a band, founded in 1958. The band plays at ceremonial events and monthly dinners for the lodge, events for veterans, and for the community. Today’s program is typical of the repertoire heard at one of the lodge’s monthly dinner concerts. The band previously played at the 2014 festival.
The band rehearses most Tuesday evenings at the lodge (229 West 20th Ave. near El Camino Real in San Mateo). Contact music director James Langdell (jameslangdell@gmail.com).
